Many food corporations, bakeries, markets, produce companies and other food industries use cherries in their logo. Cherries are thought of as sweet and enjoyable. They represent desserts, luscious toppings, ice cream flavors and toppers, and are a favorite in pies, with cheesecakes, and many other rich and delicious desserts. But a logo design making use of cherries may not always be for a food business.
Cherries are popular for many reasons. They bring to mind pleasant thoughts of spring, hope, femininity, and their blossoms are a symbol for newness and promise. These attributes make a cherry an appealing addition to a logo and for a company’s branding. In fact, Japan’s country emblem is a cherry blossom and it represents wealth, success, and prosperity. There are many situations where a cherry or group of cherries will apply to a logo. Of course, a cherry grower, cherry orchard owner, or other cherry producing company would naturally incorporate cherries into their logo. Other obvious applications would be a company located in a city with the word cherry included such as Cherry Creek Mortgage or Cherry Blossom Hair Designs. Others may use their last name in their logo such as Harold Cherry and Associates.
More subtle uses for a cherry in a logo would work for a pharmacy. With a cherry in their logo, a pharmacy can gain confidence from customers that their medicines ‘will taste good.’ The same goes for pharmaceutical companies that produce liquid medications. Cherry and grape are the two most popular flavors for hiding the harsh flavor of liquid medication. Another good use for cherries in a logo would be for a pediatrician’s office or children’s dentist. Children want to feel safe and know they are going to be taken care of. Cherries instantly get their attention allowing them to feel like something good is coming out of their visit. Likewise, parents may subconsciously see cherries in a logo and take comfort that their child will be treated with care and consideration.
Cherries are often seen on dating and matchmaking websites and used in logos for companies that produce lingerie, romantic products, perfumes, hair products, nail polish, undergarments, and feminine items. Cherries are sweet and inviting—and women like to feel pampered. Cherry scented shampoos, conditioners, and lip balms is common and the company that manufactures them will take advantage of using cherries in their logo even if they have many additional products with other fruity scents.
The aroma of cherries and their blossoms is popular in scented products like air fresheners, cleaning products, car fresheners, and home interior embellishments. When a company presents their products with a cherry included in the logo, customers naturally assume there will be items for sale that are pleasant smelling and will provide an atmosphere of good feelings.
It’s interesting how a fruit like cherries can apply to many logo designs for so many varied industries. People look for companies that will allow them the best service and products for their money. Who could turn down a vanilla shake with whipped crème and ‘a cherry on top?’
