Designing Good Logos to Enhance Business
With a well-designed logo, a company can promote their image and increase profits. In order to be considered a successful and good logo, there are certain elements or characteristics of design that must be included. Particular elements such as font style and size, text, color and images are important elements of design that work to create good logos. An ideal logo will play a major role in the promotion of the company image. A poorly designed logo will not have a positive effect on your business or company. It could damage the image and cause a loss in profitability. In the following, some of the basic elements of designing a good logo are briefly discussed. This should help you in getting an idea of what is required when creating the best possible logo for your business, company or organization.
Selecting a Salable Image
Over the years, companies and businesses have chosen many different images for use in their own logos. Some have had tremendous success while others have not. One of the best examples of a well-designed and widely recognized image in a company logo is that of the famous swoosh. The company known as Nike used this image in their logo and it rapidly became iconic. When individuals see this image, it is instantly recognized as Nike. When choosing an image for a good logo, you should try to make it one that is unique and individualized. Never use images found online as these are often associated with other companies and businesses. You will risk a trademark infringement issue if you use an image that copies or closely resembles an image being used by another company. Be sure to choose images with little detail. The more basic that an image appears, the more easily it is remembered.
Choosing Colors that Contrast and Connect
Another important element in the design of any good logo is the color choice. Most logos contain only two colors and no more than three should ever be used. If there are too many colors present in the design, it will appear cheap and tacky and often overwhelm the viewer. To attract the public to your logo, it is best to choose simple colors such as red, blue, green and black. You will want to use colors that contrast well with one another. Bright and vibrant colors can be used; however, there are only certain types of logos that benefit from their use.
Great Font Styles and Text Selections
When creating a good logo for your company or business, you will need to select a style of font that represents your organization in the best image. If your business is a modern and upscale one, you may prefer some of the more elegant fonts such as Ariel and Times New Roman. There are many choices in font styles that can be fitted to the design of your logo. Some logos include a certain amount of text. Some companies and businesses have slogans or quotes that are specific to their trade. These can be included in the logo to help it remain a memorable one. Never choose more than four to five words of text. You do not want too much text as this may create a cluttered design.
